Lightspeed is seeking an experienced System Administrator - Cloud with strong troubleshooting skills and Linux technical knowledge to provide systems and application administration within a cloud environment. Reporting to the IT and Systems Manager, the System Administrator - Cloud has excellent verbal and written communication skills, works well both independently and as a member of a team, and has a keen attention to detail.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assists the IT and Systems Manager in the planning for IT, security and backup needs for company growth across remote offices
  • Implements and monitors status, performance, reports and capacity trends of the maintained infrastructure
  • Acts as top escalation ("level 3") systems support within a cloud environment
  • Provides technical insight and documentation for the rest of the IT team
  • Maintains company server infrastructure : OS, services and hardware
  • Works closely within the team to maintain and/or administer a cloud infrastructure for hosting mission critical SaaS applications
  • Develops an automation process for systems within the AWS EC2 environment
  • Performs ongoing monitoring and tuning, upgrades, backups and resource optimization as required
  • Ensures redundancy and stability for all critical systems
  • Ensures data protection and recovery for all supported systems
  • Researches and evaluates 3rd party software products
  • Be proactive in striving to improve yourself and things around you

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience administering Linux
  • Experience within an AWS environment
  • Knowledge of Mac OS X deployment and automation
  • 2+ years of experience with LAMP stacks
  • Experience in troubleshooting issues with Python and PostgreSQL
  • Knowledge using an API and scripting in JSON
  • Self-starter who also works well with minimal supervision
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
